Create a simple cartoon scene[Part 1]

Part 1: Creating Day

1.Create a new document: 1680px X 1024px


2.Fill up the background color with #87c8ff

This is the emulate sky color so you can adjust the sky color to your own preference.

3.Create Cloud

Make sure the foreground color is "White". Use the Ellipse Tool to create a one circle.

A. Use the Ellipse Tool to create a Circle.


B. Use the ellipse tool to create 3 more circle to create the Cloud Shape.





C. Click Shape 4 and while holding shift, click Shape 1 to select all 4 layers.



D. Right Click any layers and select "Merge Layers"


E. Rename the layer as "Cloud"



F. Go to the Blending Option by double clicking the Cloud Layer. Change the following settings.

Any light grey color will do.


G. Create a new layer on top of the Cloud Layer and rename it "Shiny".

H. With the Shiny layer selected, Ctrl-Click on the Cloud Layer to have the Cloud selection.


I. Fill up the Shiny Layer with #ffffff.

J. Using the Elliptical Tool and make sure the"Intersect with selection" is checked, select a part of the cloud.


K.Press Delete and Ctrl-D.


L. Select both "Cloud" and "Shiny" Layer and press Ctrl-G to group them together as "Clouds"

4.Create the Sun.

A. Create a layer call "Sun". Make sure it's below the Group "Clouds".

B. Use a Ellipse Tool to create a Circle and Fill it up with #ffbc00.

C. Change the Blending Option.


D. Create a new layer call "Rays" and move it below the "Sun" layer.

E. With the Rays layer selected, Ctrl-Click on the "Sun" layer to switch on the Ellipse Selection. Fill it up with #fffffff.

F. Go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur.


G. Using the smudge tool, click and hold from the center of the sun and drag it outwards.



H. Continue this around the sun to form Sun Rays.


I. Change the Blending Option.

#fdffbd to #ffffff

J. Group two layers together and name it "Sun".

K. Tadah!!! Here's your Cloud and Sun.

5. Create the land

A. Create a new layer and name it "Land". Move it on top of "Background".

B. Using a Pen tool and the foreground color switched to #03f26e, draw out the land. make sure you don't just click around the borders when u reach the ends of the canvas. Give it abit more distance away from the borders just like it's shown on the picture below.



C. Change the Blending Option of "Land".

This is what we will achieve in Part 1 which is to create the Day scene. Part 2 will be up soon to add in the rainbow plus night scene
